I’m going to try to be as honest and subjective as I possibly can when writing this review, so you can get a better idea of what you’re getting yourself into. First, let me begin with a little background information about myself. I am an RN, who graduated from with my bachelor’s degree. I was harassed by OpTech’s recruiter who found me on LinkedIn for roughly 6-9 months before finally agreeing to be submitted for a position at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. I had no idea what a recruiter was or how they worked or that I’d be working for them as a “contractor”. OpTech set up an interview for me. The interview was a nightmare; one of the interviewers was cold, standoffish and demeaning. They hired me. Starting off, the company seemed ok. I had a long drive to work everyday. Everyday was stressful. There was a clear distinction between direct employees and contractors. There was little communication from leadership, and questions were not addressed. I did my job well. I always met productivity. After disputes with my Team Leader, I voiced this concern to OpTech. They seemed genuinely interested. After working there for about a year, I finally voiced my concern about my Team Leader to my manager. This was a clear no-no at this job. They got my contracting agency involved and told me to not jump leadership, and that I had to wait 1-2 days for a response from my team leader for any questions I may have. OpTech told me that it would be a shame for them to not renew my contract just because I don’t get along with my team leader. Lo and behold, I get a call from OpTech at the end of December, after I had been working there for 1 year, to tell me that it “looks like Blue Cross would not be renewing my contract, and that OpTech did not have any other openings for me”. Translation: you’re laid off. I have never been let go from a job. I currently have no health insurance. Absolute ludicrous. I am an honest, dependable, open person who did everything they asked me for, only to be left without a job on the holidays. I hope this helps some people.
