I have been with Opendoor for a year and its been the best professional experience of my 10+ year career. 1. Hiring quality talent is extremely important to the company. This makes for a great work environment with intelligent and driven coworkers/managers. 2. Deep commitment to employee growth and development. Continuing education allowance annually, weekly feedback, multiple formal reviews per year, multi-level goals and expectations (local, regional, national). 3. Variety of day to day tasks 4. Opportunities to voice and test new ideas and systems. 5. Transparency into national ops and plans for the direction of the company. 6. Autonomy in the day-to-day if you are performing at least decently.

Svantaggi

1. Definitely more than 40 hr work week expectations, especially in smaller markets. Closer to 50-55 largely due to Slack. My experience is that the pros make up for this. Almost never hit the 60-65 hour range. 2. Expectation of occasional weekend hours. Usually 1 weekend a month with a few one-off visits needed on other weekends.

Recently joined - Kaz is fantastic. There's been basically no blockers to us shipping. Very long hours but you can feel the impact in the work you're doing

Not much right now. Things are a little chaotic but that's what I signed up for. EPD leadership is maybe a little lacking

996 / hustle culture amongst newer folks. Love having motivated teammates but the comp is B-tier at best (unless you’re the CEO, at 4371x the avg employee) New product folks are a mixed bag. Some work really hard and are super sharp. Some talk about working hard and take credit for product work from others. SF office dying through firing and resignations - expect to be asked to visit Miami and Toronto frequently. Tenured employees seem to be assumed to be low performers
