Is a government job, so can be slow to do anything

Great department where you can promote quickly and many overtime opportunities. Great department that trains often and has high standards. I love the different events and off duty overtime opportunities that are always in abundance

The pay is terrible compared to other departments of a similar size. We struggle retaining people due to the pay, and upper management seems to have no problem with the revolving door of employees. A FF/EMT makes $1500 net per pay check (48k per year )in 2024. A decent one bedroom apartment cost $1700/month. Hoping for a raise soon so we'll see what happens. Shouldn't have to work overtime to make a decent living.
