I was repeatedly bumped into by the male owner, who never acknowledged it, and generally treated me with open hostility. In contrast, he appeared friendly and respectful toward male staff. This is known among many female staff that get bumped into by him we all had to just accept it . I even made a complaint with corporate and it still continued. On one occasion, I was 30 minutes late and was cornered in an office by two female managers. I was told to go home, despite not having a chronic lateness issue. I calmly stated that I felt targeted and was immediately met with yelling and finger-pointing from a manager. I had to ask her more than once to remove her hand from my face. I asked to speak with a neutral supervisor. While explaining the situation to one of the male supervisors on the line, a superior named Gail interrupted and ordered me off the premises, threatening to trespass me. I complied and did not return. Despite repeatedly requesting not to be scheduled to close due to parenting obligations and being a full-time student at Aveda, my requests were ignored. Meanwhile, younger employees without dependents were given more flexible shifts. • When I asked why I wasn’t scheduled on Christmas Eve—one of the busiest nights—despite having worked all summer and fall, Gail lied to my face and claimed it was a fair decision. It was clear these desirable shifts were given to long-time favorites and returning college students. • On another occasion, I coordinated early (around 7 a.m.) with a coworker to pick up a shift. We followed the procedure and submitted the change for manager approval. When I asked about it later, Gail claimed she gave the shift to another employee, Shannon, simply because it was the “first one that came up”—ignoring the fact that I had coordinated earlier and submitted the request immediately. A younger employee named Ava falsely accused me of withholding tips, a baseless accusation that could have severely damaged my employment and reputation. Management held what they called a “mediation,” but it was entirely biased, dismissive, and unprofessional. Ava faced no consequences for her reckless behavior, nor was I given a proper apology or any support. She was clearly favored due to her longer tenure at the location.. When I explained how damaging such accusations are—especially with no evidence—I was ignored. When I attempted to advocate for myself, I was mocked by a manager who sarcastically asked, “What are we, in the court of law? Are you in law school?” after I asked for specific examples and fairness. • Another coworker, Cathy Impara, was so disturbed by how I was yelled at in front of others that she privately confronted the manager and told them the treatment was not only inappropriate, but triggering. Cathy later shared with me that she had done this on my behalf. I am and was their only single mother in TGo and was simply trying to earn an income while attending school. Instead, I was targeted, retaliated against, denied reasonable schedule accommodations, and ultimately pushed out for standing up for myself.. I believe this pattern of mistreatment constitutes discrimination, favoritism, and a hostile work environment, and I respectfully request a formal investigation into this location.

Overall, it was a friendly work environment with supportive coworkers and opportunities to grow for people who are willing to learn and work hard. The kitchen experience is great for improving speed, teamwork, and handling pressure during busy hours.

the workflow and hours can be very dependent on the high season. During slower periods, shifts and business can fluctuate a lot. Another challenge is that the restaurant was often understaffed, which sometimes made the workload heavier for the team, especially during rush hours.
