Vantaggi
- Excellent workmates (both high calibre consultants and people!) and relaxed culture. Focus on collaboration
- Exposure to senior team members from day 1: Due to the small nature of the firm you will work (and learn from) highly experienced partners and managers from Day 1
- Exposure to client-side senior management from Day 1: Working with C-level clients in the UK / European insurance industry is the norm
- Growth: The firm is growing fast and all staff are actively encouraged to help shape the firm (e.g. help shape how recruiting works, or organise team socials)
- The normal strategy consulting thing of getting to work on high profile / impact projects
- Variety: Whilst OP is insurance-only, there is a wide variety of projects available to work on, from pure corporate strategy work, to more digital-focused work (and everything in-between)
- Work-life balance: Whilst this is consulting and the hours can occasionally be long, the norm at OP is much better than some of my friends at other consultancies. 9am to 6.30pm is typical. Working beyond 8 is rare.
- Office: Free beer, coffee and ping pong!
Svantaggi
- As a smaller company, there is less formal training than at some of the bigger consultancies (the focus is on quickly learning on the job and impetus will be largely be on you to ask someone if there is something you need to learn - help will always be available!)
- Travel (if you see this as a con). Some projects are in European cities and you will need to stay in hotels during your time there
