Vantaggi
Vacation time and flexible work arrangements are excellent. Good health coverage and flex-benefits. Despite negative comments about the CIO in other reviews, I can objectively say we're at least tending to move in a better direction than when Business Technology (BT) was S&T. Don't get me wrong, it's not great, but it's better than it was before, and I have a better outlook for BT's future.
Svantaggi
Expected to work overtime without compensation. Salaries are low. Bonuses are low. Morale is low. Disregarding how the industry has been performing recently, PCL's compensation is just too low in general, and not competitive enough to retain top talent. Management often doesn't get along between departments and morale has been in the toilet for the past 2 years. The sense of community and camaraderie found in the halls seems to mostly stem from the common distaste for management recently, which has spurred a number of people (top performers who realize there are better-run places out there) to quit. I advise the Technology Analyst who posted the recent childishly-bickering review to take a step back and realize how threatening and defensive their post comes off as. You may be friends with the CIO and therefore got an amazing raise and bonus, but most people don't. Compensation is simply poor here. Corporate's spending is often wildly inaccurate from how it portrays its financial status. "Times are tough" they say, slashing bonuses and raises (or giving none at all), and then proceed to throw wild parties for executives to dance around on stage with rented fog machines (what, why? I shook my head at this) and spend without caution, especially on other departments where I hear that some people will spend all day on YouTube because they have nothing to do.
