Vantaggi
Hard to find some...Recruitment is a fun job, but you can get that at so many other firms. The time goes by quickly, I guess. You can drink at 4:00 on Fridays at the desk...you will definitively need it after the unprofessional-ism you will have to endure during the rest of the week.
Svantaggi
This has nothing to do with the industry or the job, itself. This is about the completely unprofessional environment that you would be required to work in. I can only speak for Michael Page, Toronto. They are encouraged to hire very young, attractive women. Managers and Directors comment on whether or not they would sleep with a potential hire when deciding to bring them in for an interview (not worded as nicely as that, of course). They choose young people because they can be manipulated easily and have never worked anywhere else. There is an excessive amount of substance abuse that occurs and the young, impressionable, girls are (more than) encouraged to participate. You have Directors sleeping with new grads. If you speak up about this, you are at first mocked (literally) and then fired. Maybe the laws are different in the UK, but the environment is completely illegal in Canada. A lot of the positive reviews posted on glass door are posted by Michael Page management to help get new hires....they need new hires because the turnover is over 100% (no joke). There are so many more cons, like you could make A LOT more money working at any other recruitment firm and work A LOT less hours. You are treated like a child and pretty much have to ask for permission to do anything. These are additional reasons why not to work there, but I really wanted to drive home the sexual harassment factor...
