Svantaggi
I was hired as store manager for Pandora Times Square in New York City. This particular location is franchised-owned and run very, very poorly. There was a very small management team, although I'm still not quite certain of everyones titles as everyone did a little bit of everything. In fact, the owner had someone working for him full time, in sales, who was origianlly contracted to do the marketing and whom I believe had no sales or management experience. The work environment quickly became extremely stressful. As store manager I was doing 10 hours days (not including my commute) 6 days a week. It also quickly became clear that I needed to be available and work on my 1 day off as well. Now I would understand this type of expectation were I an Area Manager and looking after a few stores, but I was hired as store manager. I had 2 assistant store managers and 2 Keyholders yet I Still needed to be there all the time. 0 work/life balance. I was also not permitted to do the hiring for my store or even sit on on the interviews. I was given some feedback, after about 3 months, that verbatim was: "You need to eat, breath and sleep this job." Something I would expect to be told if I was about to inherit the business, but not for being hired as a store manager. On top of all of that, health and safety became a huge concern. We were letting in large groups of people, during a pandemic, multiple people in offices and lunch rooms not wearing masks. Safety particularly was an issue being in Times Square and working late sometimes, during a time when there is no tourism and only drunks/drug addicts/homeless people coming in to cause trouble. At one point I had an opportunity to get the Covid-19 vaccine and when I told my direct report I needed to leave early because these appointments are hard to get, I was told I could not leave and then I was also told to wait a week or so to get the vaccine. I was shocked that any company would not put my health, and my personal choice to take this vaccine, first. They also had multiple illegal/off the books people working there doing the same hours I was and not being paid nearly as much. There are also no benefits, no 401K, no vacation and absolutely 0 paid time off. NY State gives you 5 sick days, but don't expect to see these or be paid for this time if you need to call out while working here. You will just be written up for calling out. At pandora Times Square you will be written up for the most rediculous things I have ever seen. This is one of the worst jobs I have ever had and I have worked in retail for about 15+ years.
