Vantaggi

Like the hed says: Interning for Paper Magazine is unpaid, so carefully consider if it's worth your time. If you are looking for a place to write and get bylines, you will be able to do that. It, however, was an opaque process for who got to write what and when. Talk to your fellow interns to know who is writing and which staff member they're in contact with. Then, lol, hit that staff member up. Politely of course. The other pro thing about this internship is that it was pretty flexible. There was plenty of downtime.

Svantaggi

Unpaid! Paper Magazine is definitely a place where you have to advocate for yourself, and it was frustrating at times. You will be sent on errands like fashion runs (even if you're editorial) and bulk of your time will probably be spent on transcribing interviews. I think it's also important to mention this: Former Black employees came forward to share their stories of mistreatment and workplace inequality. (You can find the accounts thru google.) Paper Magazine's leadership team hasn't addressed those allegations in any meaningful institutional way, so also keep that mind if you're considering interning.
