Since we were silenced from commenting on this internally, I'll give my opinion here. For a long time I actually believed this place was what it claimed to be. I had no problem putting in extra hours, giving my all to make sure projects were a success, because I actually believed in the work we were doing. I've never been so happy in a job before and felt I finally found the perfect work/life balance. Free of all the distractions and inconvenience of working in the office, I felt my productivity go way up and the review scores from my supervisor reflected that. Like most people working in the department, I'm fairly introverted and prefer to just focus on my work rather having to deal with the constant in office politics and have a hard time concentrating with all the chatter from having cubicles crammed together. Working from home, was working out so well I was pushing to go full remote since the single day in office was pointless and my least productive day of the week. It makes no sense to sit in an office all day to still conduct all communication and meetings through our remote computers anyway. Especially when more than half my team works out of a different state. After the last two days however I feel completely betrayed and lied to by this company. We were told numerous times (including directly from the CEO's mouth!) that our current hybrid schedule would be permanent. Many people, myself included made major life decisions based on this information. We can't help but feel this was a deliberately cruel decision in order to anger as many people as possible so they'll find new jobs and can be replaced with much cheaper new hires. It just really hurts to believe in a company, thinking they'll treat you with equal respect only to find out they just consider you....an expense. We were purposely not given much notice to prepare for a return to office. Paycom was busy secretly telling other departments they were moving out of the way so development could return to office...but purposely kept that from the people actually getting their lives turned upside down. So now my family and I get major stress and uncertainty for Christmas. Thanks! I really feel paycom is only screwing themselves with this. Here's an example. Say someone works a half hour away from the office on average (which I'm sure is generous considering there are many people who live even further away, and have to take additional time dropping children off at school/daycare). The employee commuting a half hour is losing out on 5 hours a week JUST commuting. That's time away from their family. Time they could be running errands, doing housework. and time that won't be going to Paycom. As it is, I have no problem putting in an extra time to help finish up last minute projects on a tight deadline because I HAVE the extra time. When it's wasted commuting, most employees are going to be unwilling to give that extra time to paycom. It's just really unfortunate that a tech company who claims to be at the forefront of the HR industry can be so backward thinking when it comes to how they treat their own employees.
