Vantaggi

If you're a true sales professional willing to put in the work, the earning potential is huge. The benefits are some of the best I’ve seen—health, stock options, 401(k) match, pet insurance, parental leave, OnePass, Maven, Cariloop, and more. The pay structure (base + commission) is competitive and definitely enticing. Hitting President’s Club comes with a generous stock grant, though it does take three years to fully vest. Training starts off strong—the energy is electric, and you really get the sense that people want you to win. It’s fun, fast-paced, and engaging. That said, your experience will largely depend on your office and, more specifically, your manager. Ongoing training is available—monthly sessions from the sales learning team, quarterly regional trainings, and weekly manager-led coaching (though this last one varies greatly by office). I appreciated that the learning team was always evolving their approach to help sales reps improve.

Svantaggi

Everything starts from the top. The CEO is highly intelligent and expects a lot from his people, but the leadership style is built on fear, which trickles down through the entire management structure. It’s a very old-school, high-pressure sales environment. While the official hours are 8-5, expect to work well beyond that—especially in your first year—to prep and ensure you're hitting goals. I often worked 7-7. Office culture varies by location, but in my experience, management created a toxic environment. Leadership was passive-aggressive, unprofessional in their communication, and at times inappropriate in their behavior. Public berating, excessive criticism, and a lack of genuine support were common. As a woman—especially a mother—the experience was particularly difficult. I was made to feel guilty throughout my pregnancy and faced constant pressure upon returning, including during breastfeeding breaks. Unfortunately, discussing challenges with leadership was not welcomed and was often met with gaslighting or being labeled a "bad culture fit." The turnover rate is high for a reason. If you're considering this role, be prepared to have thick skin, a strong mental disposition, and the ability to succeed with little support. Speaking up about concerns is often seen as a weakness, and historically, those who do don’t last long.

Vantaggi

The people, we have amazing people that inspire me every day. They are so smart and love to think creatively to solve problems and propel us into the future! The perks and our beautiful campus. We are an in-office culture so it is very nice to have all the $4 delicious lunch options, on-site fitness center and wellness programs. Our landscaping is gorgeous and just getting to give high fives and see people winning is very rewarding. I enjoy seeing all the fun ways people decorate their work space and the extras when a birthday, anniversary, baby, wedding, etc... is celebrated! Overall the pay is really good too.

Svantaggi

Paycom definitely is not for everyone. We are a metrics driven organization with high expectations. We expect people to learn fast, be confident to problem solve and ask questions so ultimately we all get the desired results. Depending on where you live the commute every day can feel long. Currently the city has construction going near the entrances so that stinks but it should be great once complete.

Thank you for sharing your experience! It’s great to see it reflect the energy and pride people bring to their work, along with the campus and benefits designed to support that environment. We’re clear about our high expectations, and it’s encouraging to hear how that culture comes through alongside the people and perks that make Paycom a rewarding place to be.
