Vantaggi
- Strong software engineers - Good office location - Fast-paced environment
Svantaggi
- Culture of entrepreneurship is gone. Small inaccuracies in work are exaggerated and punished by middle management through intense 'retrospectives' - think 3 seniors belittling 1 junior at a meeting for a mistake that had no impact or relevance. - Zero-sum game amongst employees. Payhawk pays top of market salaries. This brings out the worst in employees, since culture becomes survival of the fittest. Politicking becomes common practice, and employees are required to push each other over for promotions and visibility, forge alliances to progress, etc. - Not withholding own cultural pillars. There is one called "Radical Candour". It gives employees the ability to directly provide candid feedback to a colleague. I wish good luck to someone who tries to be radically candid to an employee more tenured than them! - No appraisal for good performance. For +1yr in the company, I never heard a positive reinforcement for a job well done. - Frequent sackings of colleagues because they've 'lost the social game', rather than on merit/ performance basis. That's not a culture of a “sports team". The average tenure in the company is around a year. Quite demotivating.
