During my Peace Corps service in Cambodia, I was truly inspired by the warmth, resilience, and kindness of the Cambodian people. The local community welcomed me with open arms, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual respect that made my experience enriching and meaningful. I gained a deep appreciation for Cambodia’s vibrant culture, from its rich traditions, colorful festivals, and ancient temples to its unique arts and crafts. The Cambodian people's strong sense of community and commitment to preserving their cultural heritage left a lasting impression on me. Additionally, I was captivated by the country's stunning natural landscape—lush rice paddies, dense forests, and the tranquil Mekong River—remarkably resilient amidst challenges. Experiencing Cambodia’s natural beauty firsthand underscored the importance of environmental conservation and community-led sustainability efforts. Overall, my time in Cambodia not only allowed me to contribute meaningfully but also provided me with profound personal growth through meaningful intercultural connections and a deep appreciation for the country's cultural and natural richness.

While my service in Cambodia was deeply rewarding, I also faced several challenges, notably related to temperature, transportation, and healthcare. The hot and humid climate often made daily activities uncomfortable and occasionally endured periods of intense heat that affected both work and personal comfort. Transportation could be difficult, especially in rural areas where infrastructure was limited; long travel times, unreliable vehicle availability, and challenging roads sometimes hindered communication and project implementation. Healthcare services, especially in remote regions, were limited and often lacked immediate access to comprehensive medical facilities.
