I wouldn't recommend. The other co workers are nice, but many other issues. The guidelines are quite sparse, with lots of gaps that don't give you the basis to succeed at the job unless you ask lots of questions. You get different answers depending on who you ask, and that is when people get back to you, since it sometimes takes ages to get an answer. Management will criticize you for asking too many questions, claiming that you should check the guidelines even if it doesn't include the information. I had to resort to asking a friend in another department who would actually get back to me quickly since I was being told I was asking too many questions and no one was able to answer my questions. Training is quite minimal, especially considering that the guidelines are so sparse and missing so many things. Risk appetite for new business is extremely small. The company only accepts basically restaurants and a few other small business ventures. Even still, lots of pressure to meet high new business stats, even though you also have to decline 90% of what is sent in. The system is quite ancient and sometimes slow. I did enjoy underwriting but the micromanagement and lack of support was too much. Additionally they will overload you with work but expect you to have all the time in the world to chat endlessly with people at the office, all the while being under pressure to meet tight deadlines. It appears like there is a good work life balance but that's not the case.
