Vantaggi
There was a time, even up to the last couple of years, when this was a great place to work, filled with many talented people who were proud of the work they did. Sadly, those days are past.
Svantaggi
It's hard to overstate just how dysfunctional and toxic this company has become in the last couple of years. What was once an innovative and exciting place now feels like a vanity project in terminal decline. The company is struggling financially, but leadership seems more focused on protecting its own image and indulging in pet topics than on supporting the people who actually deliver the work. There's a definite clique among leadership and key individuals. If you're not in their inner circle, you’ll be ostracised, side-lined, and denied opportunities. Senior managers are chosen not on competence, but how they never say no or disagree with the SLT, this leaves managed staff often having far more experience and competency than their managers. Due to this, attrition is high as top talent continues to leave, and morale has dropped off a cliff. The company has a poor attitude toward its employees, with salary and benefits a joke compared to comparable competitors. It was telling that when one of the senior partners was announced as leaving there was a genuine outpouring of dismay, and in the same call when it was also announced who his replacement on the board would be, not a single person congratulated his replacement. I assume mostly due to everyone’s complete understanding that he has been totally ineffectual with his projects including a benchmarking project which has failed to come to fruition, despite this being on going for over two years! What’s crazy is that the partner who left is now back, sheer madness. The financial mismanagement is staggering, and only seems to have got worse since the newish CFO has come on board, his tone deaf responses in a recent town hall, only emphasized his complete disconnect from the majority of staff. Whilst the SLT flaunts its wealth and wastes hundreds of thousands on lavish parties and events, staff are asked to take pay cuts and face redundancies. Despite not losing a single person during Covid times, the recent layoffs have been handled with a particularly callous disregard for the employees involved, one assumes this being directed by the CFO & CPO as neither where around during Covid. The issues with leadership are systemic. The Head of People, is a smiling assassin who claims to be there for staff but consistently shows a complete lack of awareness and empathy. The recent handling of the US sales team was particularly heartless, and if the head of sales had been at all competent instead of spending all his time jogging with the Lead Partner, he should have realized that this should have been done months ago. Transparency is non-existent. Raw data or any data from the most recent staff survey was never shared, likely because the results were through the floor. It was a pathetic attempt to look like the company cared about its culture, and it failed spectacularly despite the best efforts of the culture team, it just makes it feel like the staff are shouting into the void. As an ally, I've seen a shocking lack of opportunities for women at PTP, many of whom are reduced to doing "dog work" for various events, often at the expense of their day jobs. The remark "PTP is no place for women!" is all too common. Whilst I am assured by women colleagues that this is not uncommon, when this was raised with the Lead Partner, his response was "we have one" (on the board), referring to the non-technical CPO. There are zero other female managers. You honestly can’t make up this level of unawareness. As others have said the fixation with the connected doll “Cayla” & other old research, has become emblematic of the company’s problems: a founder rehashing said old research time and again, while ignoring the very real issues facing the business, such as no one being able to do any new research, due to having to take second jobs to survive.
