Business run totally by negitive and abusive tactics. For 3 years I delivered number one sales in the district as well as the highest profitting dept. in the store never once did my DM, Store Manager, or other management members say thank you or give me any appreciation for a job well done. I was just regularly reminded of the importance of selling training classes and the importance of getting OSAT scores up. My store manager hid in the office the majority of the day every day avoiding work and interacting with custmers at all cost. This left me and maybe 2-3 other employees out on the sales floor to juggle 10 customers at a time (as we are the busiest store in our distric) only to get chewed out by upper management for not juggling the 11th customert. Regularly chewed out by customers for lack of assistance on the floor and cashiering. Frequently juggle running petcare alone while also running register and customer assistance in the back of the store with dog food and cat supplies. 3 years and 3 store directors later we still have a disfunctional store where our store director hides in the office leaving our presentation manager to run the entire show. She lets the control get to her head and has run off over 20 employees in the 3 years i've been there. She is drunk on power and abuses the employees verbally and emotionally in the store regularly threatening their jobs, talking down to them infront of customers and employees and even going so far as to make employees cry in front of customers and or other employees. This has been reported to the so called "careline" and to the two different DM"s we have had and yet still nothing is done about this disgustingly unprofessional behavior. All in all I would rate petsmart as a 1 for level of satisfaction, the pay sucks, the brow beating culture sucks, the management sucks, and no matter how well you perform you NEVER get a thank you. Phil Francis (CEO) should be ashamed of himself for allowing a company with all the potential in the world to be run so poorly!!

The company pushes for more and more from the bottom level employees without better pay. I worked there before the restructuring and; not much can make me cry, but working here sure did, even back then. I can’t imagine how anxiety inducing it must be to work there now. Animal welfare is a complete non-concern. The only thing that’s pushed is sell, sell, sell. It’s borderline dystopian. Bad management seems to be a common issue, not only from my experience, but many others’ as well. I worked until I was an exhausted sweaty mess to make sure everything in pet care or, when I groomed, the salon, was cleaned to perfection as expected of me (and I reiterate: “me,” because these standards were not expected of my co-workers, just me) and overall felt very unseen. The only times I did feel “seen,” was when mistakes were made. Work was treated like boot camp. A co-worker that was subtley targeting/bullying me, and even started rumors accusing me of racist remarks(!!!), was promoted and anything I reported was downplayed because they were friends with the assistant manager. Working here was an overall traumatizing experience.
