The company doesn’t know what it wants and changes direction constantly leaving people with no tools to explain changes to services or pricing to explain to customers. If the company wasn’t around for so many years, you would think it was founded yesterday. It’s a startup, but the amount of change and constant hire and fire is certainly not adequate for a company of that stage.

The workforce is genuinely strong - smart, knowledgeable and deeply engaged in the energy transition. Many employees care a great deal about their subject area and the broader mission. The Talent Manager is exceptional. Hiring is fast, efficient and professional, and the calibre of candidates brought into the organisation is high. Salaries are fair and benefits are reasonable. The leadership team are friendly and approachable. There is significant intellectual capability across the company.

The company still appears to be searching for clear & sustained product-market fit several years into its journey. There is limited appetite for structure, defined systems, or consistent process. While agility is valuable, the absence of foundational operating discipline makes scaling difficult and creates avoidable confusion. Decision rights and accountability are often unclear. Leadership effectiveness is somewhat uneven. Communication from the top can lack clarity, and changing priorities reduce momentum. Constructive dissent is not always encouraged, limiting healthy debate and critical challenge. Micromanagement tendencies can slow execution and restrict empowerment of capable leaders and teams.
