Vantaggi
Great benefits - great healthcare with low premiums and low co-pays, no co-pays on medications, vision and dental/orthodontics. Some district managers are outstanding and are committed to the success of their reps. As with any company, there are some bad ones too, but the majority of district managers are very good. Salary is comparable to other large pharma companies. Salary is higher than other small pharma companies who offer higher bonus payouts. Pfizer has some great products - Chantix, Celebrex, Lipitor, Viagra - that benefit many people. It feels good to be selling products you know make a difference to many patients.
Svantaggi
it is becoming a micro-managing company. Managers have fewer reps so they ride with them every two weeks. Managers want to be with reps that much - once per month is usually enough if everyone is doing their job properly. Physicians are annoyed that managers are in their offices a lot. But managers are forced into doing it. Quotas are revised twice per year so if you are doing really well you may not be after the quota is revised mid-year, the bonus structure is changed nearly every year and it usually results in a lower bonus for most people. Pfizer is not coming out with great products like it used to. There are a lot of "me too" products coming out into already saturated markets. Pharma in general will probably decline before getting better.
