Vantaggi
It started out a really lovely place to work. There are lots of incentives in place for staff for example, monthly bonuses, refer a friend bonuses, often in store managers and regional managers set team incentives for small prizes e.g gift card/chocolates. An Individual of the Year programme where team members have the opportunity to showcase themselves. Aspire programme where assistant managers can complete training to support them entering store/concession managers role. Generous staff discount 33% on full price product. Team members working inside a department store are also entitled to apply for a host store discount card e.g Debenhams/House of Fraser. 80% discount on uniform. The sales floor teams (including supervisors, assistant managers and managers) are full of amazing, passionate and for the most part, motivated people, you create friends for life here, not just colleagues.
Svantaggi
The longer you are with the company the less they care about your progression. You quickly become part of the furniture and become just expected to do things, for example concession supervisors working under a multi-site manager are expected to single handidly run the department with no support from the manager. I worked with a few managers as I moved around the company to support the sites I was needed in and became relied upon as a manager, despite the title and wage of a supervisor. A lot of expected unpaid unthanked overtime. Dial up internet in concessions. A lot of paperwork - which I am personally not opposed to, but this does take up a lot of time you could be spending with customers.
