This place is treated by top management like an old boys’ club where friends get all the credit, rewards and promotions. How well you do largely depends on who you know, which executive likes you and how well you can kiss-up.
This company has a penchant for promoting the wrong people. There is a saying in Philips - there are doers and there are talkers. The doers do all the work and the talkers suck up to management and get all the credit and rewards, including promotions.
Be wary of schemers and back stabbers, of which there are many in this place. If you end up working for the wrong boss, you will get your career sabotaged, like me. I worked on many major projects, got along well with my peers and mentored the newbies in my department but others got the credit and promotions. You will end up bitter, demoralized and frustrated. Biggest career mistake was joining this company. Many have left on really bad terms and I know many that are planning to leave.
