Vantaggi
Average work environment. It's a job, though not a great one, that does offer most benefits, though they are very basic and expensive. For some, favoritism. Unfortunately I'm not one of them or their clicks. Half of the manufacturing personnel are very experienced, but only the "favorites" are appreciated by management. 24/7 operation offers a few different work options, though none of them make sense unless you work M-F 9-5. Lower level employees tend to support one another.
Svantaggi
Very narrow industry. Advancement opportunities for individuals are limited -- opportunities to promote from within opposed to hiring from the outside on a continuous basis. This specific market is not growing in the future. Low/non-competitive compensation & basic benefits package that includes VERY EXPENSIVE and terrible health insurance coverage and horrible 401K program. Lack of basic respect and fairness for lower level employees creates low employee morale in these areas. Layoffs created inadequate manpower along with pay cuts more than 5 years ago and there has been NO PAY RAISES, and very small and few bonuses, for manufacturing employees since that time. Favoritism over competence. Lack of equipment maintenance. Unapproachable senior managers, particularly in HR.
