Pay isnt bad if you can negotiate BEFORE you start. Remember, if they are speaking to you about an oppprtunity, they want you pretty bad. Not many people in the workforce that have chicken processing experience and they are willing to pay people who can hardly open an email big time dollars (100k+/year if you have decent experience). This is a JOB and NOT A CAREER only for those seeking employment who do not know where they will be in 5 years.

Be ready for daily catastrophes, immense problems and weekend work. They treat production members (whom they rely on to do the real work) like brainless cattle and will excercise "Progressive Discipline" at will. 90% of the workforce cannot speak english and this will directly impact your ability to have meetings, discipline your reports and even give compliments. Not a job for a college graduate. Aim higher somewhere else. If you are a part of the management team, be ready for persons as high up as Vice Presidents stalking from office to office trying to understand operational ins and outs. Be ready to act like you are in a fraternity and watch what you say. Many life impacting decisions are made each day about the future of the plant and curiously, those whom it directly impacts are not consulted (Example: They make a decision to combine your job with another and you come in to work one day and everything you've worked on and for and everything you were hired to do is gone.) This happened to me and I was in mid-level management! This is not a job you will be able to retire from. They are constantly restructuring and the boss you had yesterday will not be your boss today. DO NOT buy a house that you cannot flip and don't let your kids get too attached to the area schools/people.
