Vantaggi
1. Growing company means lots of potential to learn new things. 2. The non-leadership employees are very nice and hardworking. 3. The International CEO in Singapore is very competent and good at casting vision. 4. The US office rooms are nice.
Svantaggi
1. Long meetings with the Singapore group after hours and on weekends are expected for all employees 2. Salary cuts and layoffs based on how the crypto market is performing. Nobody's job is safe. 3. The Chinese work culture dynamic is difficult for US workers to adapt to (60-80hr work weeks are not stated but expected, its not ok to have or state a different opinion than the senior leadership, etc..). 4. Potentially shady finances. It was never clear where the US investor's money was being held (in a US bank or in China). This was a question we were told to avoid answering. 5. The US CEO. There is a strange power dynamic happening for the US division. The company started in China and had success there and so they hired a former investment banker who previously worked at Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley to run the newly formed US group. My experience was that the CEO was frustrating to work for because he would constantly flip flop his decisions and would never take responsibility for the projects he had us start. If the international CEO didn't like his idea, he would abandon the idea and blame us for wasting time on it. He did this (among other things) to many people and created a lot of opposition of which he either fired or bribed into silence. Even some of the exec team was fractured due to his strange and likely dishonest leadership practices. Some employees speculated that it was his personality, others pointed out that he is running his own separate investment start-up at the same time and so perhaps he was unable to keep track of managing Pionex employees at the same time.
