Vantaggi
I know how hard it can be sorting through reviews while looking for a job. Most of them are filled with so much emotion that it is hard to tell if the review is honest or if it was just written by strongly-opinionated employee. I hope that this review can give you a real look into Pixi Beauty without getting into my personal feelings. There are some pros within the Pixi Beauty walls, and those pros lie solely in the company's few benefits (even though they do not compare to similar companies or to their rivals). If all you care about is health care and $125 worth of makeup every month, then maybe Pixi is the place for you. Please keep in mind that there is no 401K.
Svantaggi
Let's start with the people that started the company. The owners are located out of the country, so if you are looking for a tight knit family-feel, you aren't going to get it here. When they are in town they ignore 90% of the office, and only give their time to their long-term employees. The President who is supposed to be in office is rarely ever there, leaving a group of inexperienced managers to run the office. Pixi Beauty is filled to the brim with negative energy. The majority of employees come in and spend most of their day either complaining about their work or complaining about their fellow employees. The majority of the negativity definitely comes from the managers, who have created cliques within their specific workspaces instead of working as a cohesive unit. Often managers can be found yelling at each other in the middle of the office. Promotions in the office are typically undeserved, and instead go to "friends of the family". Managers often have no idea what they are doing and are quick to blame other workers for their mistakes. There is a high turnover rate and a lack of respect for employees. There is special treatment to certain employees because of their relationship to the higher ups while leaving employees who were either in need of more support or more recognition in the dark. The company tries to give the impersonation of a close "family-oriented" office, even naming the team "Team Awesome", but there are no examples of this past the name. I, of course, am just one opinion on the matter, but I cannot recommend steering clear of Pixi Beauty enough. There is nothing here for you, for your career, or for your sanity. Avoid this place and find a home at company that will treat you like you deserve to be treated.
