Vantaggi
— The office is right in the heart of downtown Boston, just a few blocks from Boston Common, meaning there are tons of great lunch spots nearby.
— Bagels, muffins, fruit, coffee, beer, and other snacks are regularly available to employees (in case you don't want to drop $13 on a salad at Sweetgreen).
— Most everyone in the company is pretty laid-back. Most employees are given a fair amount of autonomy.
— The mid-level managers don't micro-manage often (not at all in my department) and allow the staff to learn through experience.
Svantaggi
— The company hasn't made much progress improving the product. The websites are still so-so and the CRM is a hot mess. That made it hard for everyone in the company to sell/market the product and get/retain customers.
— The founder was always way too upbeat during 'all-hands' meetings with the staff and rarely ever gave an honest, clear picture of how the company had performed recently (hint: it was never really good) and where it was headed (who knows). This is why a new CEO was brought on -- and why he cleaned house weeks after joining: to clean up the founder's mistakes and kind of start from scratch.
