Svantaggi
Where do I start? Working here was genuinely one of the worst job experiences I’ve ever had.
You’ll be expected to stand for long shifts in a ridiculously freezing cold shop with absolutely no heating. At times I couldn't feel my toes and fingers. Sitting down is discouraged (you’ll be judged), and the only seating option is a tiny, hard wooden stool that can barely fit one leg on. You’ll need ski thermals and multiple layers just to get through the day. The physical conditions are appalling.
But the real problem is the management – particularly the owner, Alice. She initially comes across as friendly and professional, but that façade quickly fades. Within days, I heard troubling stories from existing staff and quickly saw the truth for myself. Alice speaks nicely to your face, then tears you down behind your back. She regularly sends passive-aggressive, condescending messages in the staff group chat and fosters a toxic, fear-driven atmosphere. It was common to see staff in tears, regularly. That should never be normalized in any workplace.
Sales assistants are under enormous pressure to hit unrealistic daily targets – all while working in a shop that might get five customers on a good day. And if you don’t hit targets? Management makes it very clear that you are the problem – not the shop location, lack of footfall, or complete absence of any real marketing support.
The shop itself is a mess. It looks thrown together and poorly maintained – broken floorboards, holes in the ceiling, cobwebs, and an unsafe, rickety ladder that leads down to a damp, freezing basement where you’ll find the so called kitchen and the worst excuse for a toilet I’ve ever seen. The toilet is basically a cupboard made of shoddily-fitted stud walls that don’t even reach the ceiling. There’s no lock, no toilet roll holder, just exposed rubble and spiders.
Staff turnover is insanely high – and for good reason. If people aren’t quitting from burnout and stress, they’re being fired without explanation. I personally saw this happen multiple times with no warning or justification. There’s zero job security and even less respect.
Bottom line- Do. Not. Work. Here. You deserve better.
