Powertek's executives and those just below them (directors, PMs, etc.) are great people--they are highly competent in their jobs and genuinely care about their employees. One remarkable thing they did was donate their own PTO to employees who were in need due to the two-week government shutdown in 2013. Leaders encourage career development, and employees who express interest in this are supported well.

As a government contractor, of course most of Powertek's employees don't work at headquarters. They must conform to the environment of their assigned government contract site. Contractors here aren't treated great, but that's not really Powertek's fault per se. Still, contracts with government should be better negotiated for fairer contractor compensation and treatment.

Fellow coworkers on the contract were friendly and reasonable people. Insurance options for vision and dental were appreciated.

Powertek failed to send my resignation email to HR with a months advance notice. I informed them of my intent to take my last week of PTO in the email, which they acknowledged. Thursday, the week before my last week, they informed me that HR has given a mandate that I cannot take the last week, and they moved my end date to Friday the next day. They refused to allow me to donate my excess PTO which was set to be used for the next week, and refused to give me a copy of the employee handbook on request, since they ended access to the company intranet. They will adhere to their legal obligations, but will otherwise try to avoid working with you when they stand to benefit. Such as to avoid paying out over 40 hours of PTO.
