PLP is a flexible environment, you can basically come and go as you please within reason. The company has excellent profit sharing (which is why people stay) and the company hosts many events throughout the year. PLP has some SOME really good people working for them and the company is stable in terms of job security. Health benefits are expensive but good and the company offers many travel opportunities. In house gym is a plus.

PLP has work to do in order to keep talent and new hires. The company will boast longevity and low turnover during interviews, do not buy into this. Although it is true the company has low turnover and longevity, the people who have left are strong key people, its not about how many people leave its who the people were who left. Most people who have left PLP have landed jobs well above what PLP valued them at because PLP cannot retain top talent. PLP is swarming with family and friends, this is a huge problem at this company, managers will not treat you fairly, you will be judged based on what these "key" people make everyone believe. Cliques are dominate and gossip spreads faster than anything I have ever seen including personal matters such as people being put on probation. PLP is similar to a good old boys club, these "key" people have a strong reputation for passing the work onto others while reaping the rewards. If you try and bring this up to management you will put a death sentence on your PLP career, instead of addressing the "talent", you become the problem. PLP does have some good engineers, however being highly skilled in this trade gets you almost no where if you do not fit into the friends and family circle. PLP has engineers with no degrees, degrees do not make people good engineers, however if you cant earn the degree you shouldn't have the job. This is important as the "engineers" may be well skilled in the trade, however they cannot communicate technically and lack the fundamental engineering knowledge of degreed engineers. PLP managers do not realize the talent is lacking, PLP's solution to this is to hire more people, instead the issue is the talent pool. The company will consistently contribute every problem to the president and to the economy. A portion of this does effect the company, but PLP's competitors continue to grow while PLP loses money hand over fist. Managers at PLP will get right in your face when they get mad, no respect is given to anyone and if you try and address this you will immediately ostracize yourself. The company has 0 project managers, the engineers are expected to do the project management but because there is absolutely no accountability at PLP marketing will drag you in 50 directions until everything is late. Unless you are in a powerful clique, you will always be running uphill.
