Treated like rubbish unless you're Eastern European, not disabled or have experience - Recensione dipendente - Team Member presso Pret A Manger

Working here has been the worst decision I ever made. Joining via the Rising Stars Programme meant the team I joined knew of my disability and homelessness problem and caring responsibilities. That still did not stop the manager and the team from treating me so awfully that they have not bothered training me in other areas in this roll and just stick me on the till. My manager has judged me from the get go because of my disability and uses it as an excuse to not allow me to train me on barista or work in the kitchen. I am treated like a child here. I have experienced racism in from of this manager and have also been threatened by a customer. I have been bullied by some team members especially the baristas. If you have an Eastern European accent or have previous barista experience, you will be favoured over people like me. You might as well take a course in learning Polish or Lithuanian before working here because these people love to communicate in front of you in these languages and speak poor English with you. Being belittled and patronised in this roll because I have a disability all the while seeing people who started in this roll after I did being able to progress in this roll is the cherry on top of this wonderful experience of working at Pret. Pret apparently prides itself on diversity but in reality, it does not. My manager allows drunk people to walk in and verbally abuse me too. If you're looking for support, don't bother turning to your team, they'll just leave you on your own to deal with it and then gaslight and vilify you when the problem is not resolved and they know you are inexperienced. Also your manager will develop selective dementia when they are asked to attend meetings with the external people helping with mental health support and consistently lie to them about problems you've experienced. They will then go on to victimise themselves by writing to HR and then lie to them and say you're the problem. Whilst working on your mental health, working here will make things worse and you'll develop suicidal thoughts because of the treatment you are given. I have the best customer service out of all of these people and this is exactly why they want me out. These people are desperate for me to resign or find a reason to sack me. My manager has involved members of my team to gang up on me and lie to HR about me.
