The owner is a huge micromanager who unfortunately doesn't know how to manage. She has only worked for the family business and doesn't have any real world experience, management know-how or training. The owner and company have no strategic vision. They are stuck in the little details and don't know how to do any strategic planning. The owner jumps over the dollars to save a few pennies. Management is stuck under her thumb and are unable to contribute towards company progression because the only correct way to do business is the owner's way - per her words. Why hire industry experts if you won't listen of their advice or let them do their jobs?
Management is too afraid to speak up because people get fired or "laid off" for no apparent reason. If the owner doesn't like you or something you did you're gone - no warning, nothing.
Pay is low compared to industry standards.
They are not a progressive company by any means.
A good portion of the staff are either family members or friends of the family. There is a double standard for those employees versus the rest of the staff.
