Charming metal pole building in a backwoods-like location off bucolic Interstate 35 with quick lunchtime access to fine eateries like Kwik Trip, Casey's and a couple of dimly-lit bar& grills. There's plenty of camaraderie among coworkers who simmer in nearly constant state of dismal dread. It's like Stockholm Syndrome with a steady paycheck, if you're into that kind of thing. The bathroom or far back warehouse are perfect, private spots to curl into the fetal position while weeping and regretting your career choices. Oh, I almost forgot, there's plenty of parking!

When you first start, you're the owner/manager's favorite little darling. It's glorious! Give it a about a month. Soon you won't know what your job title is as you are switched into another position with core responsibilities that differ greatly from what you thought you were hired to do. Every week, it's someone's turn to be under the owner's microscope, so be sure you've dotted all your i's, crossed your t's and can recall precisely what you were doing 3 months ago on Wenesday at 2:32pm, and why you chose to do whatever you were doing that way instead of her (the owner's) way. Turnover is super high, unless you're one of the many family members "working" there. If you are family, congrats to you, but how is the company still in business?

Employees try hard to complete work

The owner is a huge micromanager who unfortunately doesn't know how to manage. She has only worked for the family business and doesn't have any real world experience, management know-how or training. The owner and company have no strategic vision. They are stuck in the little details and don't know how to do any strategic planning. The owner jumps over the dollars to save a few pennies. Management is stuck under her thumb and are unable to contribute towards company progression because the only correct way to do business is the owner's way - per her words. Why hire industry experts if you won't listen of their advice or let them do their jobs? Management is too afraid to speak up because people get fired or "laid off" for no apparent reason. If the owner doesn't like you or something you did you're gone - no warning, nothing. Pay is low compared to industry standards. They are not a progressive company by any means. A good portion of the staff are either family members or friends of the family. There is a double standard for those employees versus the rest of the staff.
