Vantaggi
The training I received was good.
Svantaggi
Proper Roofing hired me away from a company where I had been loyal for five years, only to lay me off after just two months. During that short time, I held down the office while the leadership team went on a trip to the Grand Canyon. When they returned, I was given a layoff slip along with several others. When I asked what I had done wrong, I was told absolutely nothing — the layoff paper said the same. Later, the only explanation given was that “sales was not doing what was expected.” They also said I would be provided their recruiter services to help me find other employment, but after reaching out twice, I received no response. To make matters worse, they promised to pay me out for the week, but when payday came, they didn’t. I had to call and ask for my paycheck. I almost felt as if they quickly asked for my military records and kept me just long enough to get the veteran tax credit before the end of the year — literally using me for free labor. This company is run by a group of friends who all left another roofing company in Houston together. They bring people on just long enough to cover work while they enjoy company trips, then claim they don’t have the finances to keep you. As a service-connected retired Army veteran with a family to support, this was not only unprofessional but deeply discouraging. If you are a veteran looking for a promising career, I would strongly urge you to look elsewhere. The lack of projection of revenue and their lower-than-average 4% “veteran discount” for potential clients really shows the level of respect they have for our sacrifice.
