Vantaggi

The training I received was good.

Svantaggi

Proper Roofing hired me away from a company where I had been loyal for five years, only to lay me off after just two months. During that short time, I held down the office while the leadership team went on a trip to the Grand Canyon. When they returned, I was given a layoff slip along with several others. When I asked what I had done wrong, I was told absolutely nothing — the layoff paper said the same. Later, the only explanation given was that “sales was not doing what was expected.” They also said I would be provided their recruiter services to help me find other employment, but after reaching out twice, I received no response. To make matters worse, they promised to pay me out for the week, but when payday came, they didn’t. I had to call and ask for my paycheck. I almost felt as if they quickly asked for my military records and kept me just long enough to get the veteran tax credit before the end of the year — literally using me for free labor. This company is run by a group of friends who all left another roofing company in Houston together. They bring people on just long enough to cover work while they enjoy company trips, then claim they don’t have the finances to keep you. As a service-connected retired Army veteran with a family to support, this was not only unprofessional but deeply discouraging. If you are a veteran looking for a promising career, I would strongly urge you to look elsewhere. The lack of projection of revenue and their lower-than-average 4% “veteran discount” for potential clients really shows the level of respect they have for our sacrifice.

The job is hard, if you want a low paying simple job, this isn’t the place to work.

Vantaggi

You work with some pretty cool interesting coworkers and the office space is nice.

Svantaggi

About to keep it a whole bean here. I’m not going to say they are liars because that would be an extreme. But this company is guilty of dishonesty by omitting and massaging specific details of what you are actually signing up for. 1. The job listings are misleading. Job title on the listing I applied for on Indeed said “Entry Level Sales Representative” the gist of the job description was “meet with homeowners and show products” but really you’re signing up to be a “marketer” aka door to door appointment setter. They won’t tell you that in the interview process they allow you to believe whatever the listings say. They force you to be a door knocker. No matter your experience or credentials you will have to do door knocking for 6 months to a year successfully before you get a chance at a sales position. They are straight up baiting and switching people but of course they are can’t get as many people applying to their company if they said have to “knock doors for almost a year to get a respectable position with some dignity” 2. They aren’t upfront in the interview process either about the pay. Job listings boast about the “unprecedented 40k a year starting salary” but what they don’t tell you is the 40k is only for 6 weeks then you drop off to 25k which is phase 2. Which after tax is about $800-900 every 2 weeks. So if you are not setting at least 30 leads in a pay period your check will be that. 3. They have no problem letting you go after 2 weeks in training. If you don’t get the script fully down in 2 weeks and “test out” which is passing the script test. They’ll have you unemployed without any remorse. They overload you with paragraphs of scripting each day and expect you to get it within the first week. No consideration for those who may learn at a slower pace. 4. Another thing they aren’t straight up about with you when hiring you is the ridiculous amount of driving you have to do for this job every week. And the fact there is no real structure when it comes to assigning territory to people. It’s all randomized and changes every single day. For example you can live in Conroe and have to drive to Galveston area 3 times in the week and once you’re done with that you can be sent to Pearland for the rest of the week. You easily will be driving 400 plus miles a week. Especially on days it’s your teams turn to work the 6 day week work schedule. 5. The way they massage and try to down play the major hazards that come with this door to door position is wild. They love to say “the people that don’t succeed here are the ones who lose their mentality to keep pushing it’s all mental game” and they are right it is! You signed up to be a sales professional and you get forced to be an unwelcomed guest in neighborhoods. You WILL occasionally have cops called on you, guns pulled on you, get cursed out and crazy homeowners ready to fight you. The only people that will succeed at this job is if you are a gluten for abuse from homeowners just for knocking on their door. If you’re not pushy person by nature you will NOT succeed at this company.
