Vantaggi
since they are a large non-profit corporation that has operations in at least 7 states in the west, there are many opportunities within the system for those who would like to stay with providence. they have a good reputation for their quality of health care in general; many patients and providers choose Providence due to this reputation, and they are happy to be there when they start. The employees within the hospital - nurses, doctors, transportation techs, housekeepers, etc. - most of them see themselves as integral to a positive care experience for each patient. Teamwork and the rapport with my colleagues was the major factor keeping me there.

although administration speaks of the mission, calling Providence a Ministry, rather than a non-profit corporation, they often do not live up to this rhetoric at the level of the patient. As a nurse in acute care, it was consistently conveyed to us that we were simply a workforce like any other - we were a financial liability to the work of Providence rather than a value-added service. In the past 1.5 years, they removed Jesus from the mission statement; this isn't a religious point of contention for me, but I feel it symbolizes a distinct change in upper leadership within the organization. for acute care registered nurses, Providence offers the worst retirement benefits in the state of oregon.
