Vantaggi
Company car you can take home. Company credit card for gas. Good for building resume to look for other jobs. Good experience for beginner looking to get into this field. Week off over July and Christmas that doesn't cut into PTO or vacation time (see cons for more information). A lot of the time you can work alone.
Svantaggi
Regarding the Week off over July and Christmas: Those two weeks (roughly, usually it's actually 4-6 days off due to holidays) put you at the industry standard of 3 weeks time off. So what they do is have half of your time off in a set week that you can't control and hang deadlines over your head saying you won't get it. They'll also tout this as an amazing bonus while interviewing you. Network Team overworked and cannot thoroughly help where needed on projects and assignments. Management sends passive aggressive emails to entire staff instead of addressing the specific problems with individuals. PTO and vacation requests and seldom responded to. Summer projects consist of 10% of the help working and managment and other employees friends with management goofing off in computers labs on computers or personal devices. Giving deadlines with consequences then allowing individuals time off even though previous spammed emails state there are "no exeptions" Poor organization and time management when dealing with projects, new contracts, security issues, etc. Employees who quit were often openly poked fun of at company meetings, Christmas parties, etc. including direct names said of old employees. No company handbook or rule book for employees because "It wouldn't allow owner to do nice things for certain employees" Company standards were not pushed and thus allowing inexperienced individuals to set things up on networks that cause multiple problems for more experienced employees to take over and fix. The family atmosphere is detrimental to the overall productivity of the work force due to bad employees never being actually dealt with. "Promotions" to other teams are all verbal in their offers i.e. when asked for pay increase "We will see where you are now and see what can be adjusted" A year went by for me with no increase in pay and wages were never brought up again, along with the offer to get "promoted" was all verbal and not in writing.
