I work with the software engineering team on converting our legacy management software to the new .NET system. When you take 20 year old software that was desktop based and try to emulate some of the functionality in a new web environment, it does not always play nice. Sometimes the tickets made seem straight forward but can grind on for weeks as we troubleshoot the issue. This is just the life of a QA specialist toiling in the world of R&D.

I managed jira projects for the transition from Quomation's legacy software to their new web based .net infrastructure. The initial spin up was a ton of work but once we got the framework built, the operation ran great. Seeing a project from the conception stage all the way through to production is one of the more satisfying experiences I had with Quomation. When the heavy lifting was done, I was off to find my next project to do.

Legacy software can be messy. It was not unique to Quomation as other places I have been, there were some real head scratchers but like any business, you got to get a project to market in order to return the money invested. I would have liked more documentation but since we had a small group we were able to figure it all out. trial and error but the job got done.
