Vantaggi

1) Welcoming team- everyone has been friendly and supportive from day one 2) Strong onboarding- training and resources made getting started smooth 3) Positive culture- upbeat, collaborative and inclusive environment. Feels more like family, than it does work 4) Growth opportunities- clear path for learning and career advancement 5) Work-life balance- management respects time off and flexible schedules 6) Transparent communication- leadership shares updates, listens to feedback and gives a clear vision for every day. 7) A special shout out to HR and Kim Tolson. Not only did she make the onboarding seamless, but when I came to her with a few issues, they were resolved immediately.

Svantaggi

Only six weeks in, and my only "con" would be that some systems and workflows are still being refined, but it's all for the betterment of the company.

Snacks. Nice building. Coffee. Some good people.

Svantaggi

After a few weeks of working at RCN, things took a negative turn. Where you were once trusted to get your work done, you were suddenly micromanaged. Where it was once an open environment where you could share feedback, you now had fear of being fired for speaking up. The nepotism ran rampant. From members of the family being promoted to or already in positions they were not qualified for to being allowed to bring their infant child to work every single day for a year while other employees had to pay for childcare, they didn't even try to hide the favoritism. There were frequent promises made about promotions and raises spanning all departments that were never fulfilled, while management continued to receive “promotions” to roles that never seemed to have a clear purpose. The pay is also far below the average in Knoxville, especially considering you are expected to do the work of multiple people. The leadership team was completely out of touch, with their egos often getting in the way of good judgment. I, along with many others, witnessed inappropriate comments made about past and current employees. They were unapproachable and unprofessional on many occasions. If you are a member of the family or if you're willing to kiss up, you'll have a long and successful career here, if not, I'd think twice.

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. While your experience at RCN was clearly disappointing, we appreciate you being candid—especially when the feedback is hard to hear. We take every review seriously and view it as an opportunity to reflect and grow. We acknowledge that RCN is not the right fit for everyone. The pace, expectations, and culture of accountability we strive to maintain can be challenging. We are a values-driven company that believes in ownership, transparency, and development, and those principles are the foundation for how we operate. When those values aren’t aligned across the board, tensions can emerge—and we’re actively working to reduce that through better hiring, clearer communication, and stronger leadership development. Regarding concerns around favoritism and leadership decisions, we hear you. While we stand by our belief that every employee should be treated fairly and recognized for their contributions, we understand that perceptions of inequity can undermine trust. As we grow, we are continuously evaluating how we communicate opportunities, set expectations, and ensure transparency in leadership decisions. It’s also clear from your feedback that we still have work to do in creating a culture where every team member feels safe giving honest feedback and contributing without fear. That’s something we take seriously and are committed to improving. We’re sorry that your experience fell short of what we want RCN to represent. We truly hope you’ve found a role where you feel valued, empowered, and aligned with the culture. We’ll continue to learn from feedback like yours and remain focused on building a workplace rooted in integrity, accountability, and growth—for everyone.
