Vantaggi
The best part of working for the corporate HQ for RE/MAX was the people I got to work with. It was a very diverse group and everyone was really friendly and generally quite positive. Felt a real sense of understanding and unity with my tech brethren. COVID really put a damper on things because it would’ve been lovely to see everyone more often! Benefits were quite decent, at least for employees without dependents.
Svantaggi
RE/MAX’s approach to tech was acquisitions and then languishing in indecision. Too much internal battle especially with Marketing, since the company is more about its brand than anything else. Culture clashes and tug-of-wars between departments weren’t unheard of. Ultimately led to layoffs, which kind of made sense in the end regardless of the impending recession and/or RE market crash. Pay wasn’t bad but not especially competitive, bizarre vesting schedule for the 401(k) match, and half of the annual bonus is in company stocks. And oddly they offered no discount or reimbursement for employees who hired a local RE/MAX agent. Surely they can afford to give *at least* $500 back for closing costs or sellers commission, and the fact that they don’t is provide anything at all…puzzling.
