Vantaggi

The company offers very good insurance.

Svantaggi

Dysfunctional and fraught with nepotism and the attendant incompetence that it breeds. Friends and relatives of upper management are placed in assignments posing demands beyond their education, experience and ability. At least one manager I am aware of possesses neither a high school diploma nor GED Certificate, yet a college degree is a requisite for the position they occupy. Many policies exist as window dressing to create the illusion of fairness and compliance with state and federal regulations. The plant is patently unsafe, production takes precedence over safety and OSHA Recordable Incidents go undocumented as a matter of routine. In a staff meeting a couple days after a serious lift truck accident in which the injured party was hospitalized, the supervisor conducting the meeting stated, "We don't have lift truck accidents, right?" The statement seemed to be made with the intent of deterring reporting of future such incidents. Personnel are routinely counseled to deceive clients visiting the plant to obfuscate wide range non-conformance to client requirements. The employee turnover rate is currently 25% and management personnel frequently reply to suggestions for improvement with statements like, "If you don't like your job there are plenty of other people who want it." That specific statement is often repeated. In an environment that claims dedication to principals of continuous improvement, opportunities for improvement are often viewed instead as indictments. These elements of the corporate culture perpetuate mutual distrust between management and labor damaging to the corporate mission.

We have carefully reviewed your feedback and are sorry that you feel so negative about our company. In order to provide what we feel is a more accurate representation of the culture, environment and working conditions at our plant in Cullman, AL, we would like to respond to the following specific topics referenced in your comments: Safety No safety issue is ever ignored under any circumstances in any of our plants. REHAU prides itself on a strong safety culture, and we live it every day. New employees are immediately trained on our safety requirements and learn best practices for performing their jobs with both their personal safety and that of those working around them as priority number one. In addition, we hold regular refresher trainings and address any situation that needs improvement without delay. The topic of safety is included in weekly team meetings, management meetings and other regular communications. We are not aware of any person in a leadership position who would have encouraged employees not to report an accident. Our policy clearly states that employees are required to report any and every incident, even those considered a “near miss.” Hiding any safety-related incident is simply not tolerated and does result in disciplinary action, up to and including, termination. We require 100 percent transparency so that a full root-cause analysis can be effectively conducted and new measures put into place, where ever necessary, so that similar incidents are avoided in the future. The lift truck accident your comments refer to, which occurred in September 2015, was reported. During a recent follow-up with personnel who were working in the plant around the time of the accident, each employee confirmed that they were – and are – aware of and understand the accident reporting policy, and felt no hesitation or concern related to reporting incidents. Employees additionally confirm that the health and safety manager at our Cullman plant is trusted, accessible and exercises his authority to escalate any issue when he deems necessary. In addition, our entire plant is subject to both regularly-scheduled and random OSHA and other compliance inspections, during which a number of quality standards (ISO 1400, ISO TS etc.) are confirmed. Managers, Hiring and Promotion Practices There is no manager who does not have at least a high school diploma and some college. Most managers have bachelor degrees. Promotions take place based on merit, skills, experience and educational background. The processes are transparent and open positions are posted throughout the plant. Anyone who is interested may apply. Friendships or family relationships are irrelevant and have no impact on the selection process. We are interested only in placing the most qualified available candidate for any opening. Our Culture Ours is a very people-oriented culture. We endeavor to offer a great place to work and encourage employees to come up with new ideas and suggestions for improvement. We have many different ways for employees to present their ideas, which include a suggestion program with rewards, management consultation days and open door policies to name a few. We also offer life-long career development and learning opportunities, and in no way support any behavior that would discourage employees from developing and sharing new ideas. Of course, there is always something that can be done better or communicated better, and we therefore seek constantly to improve. Feedback that may be based on misunderstandings or misinterpretation will ultimately help us to find ways to communicate our culture and achievements better so that everyone understands our goal is for employees to be healthy, happy, safe and motivated.
