Vantaggi
- Relatively consistent schedule; usually some overtime, too - Great experience learning to operate a complex machine - Coworkers highly determined to maximize production - I was never micromanaged, but help was available when I needed it - Pretty good benefits package available after 90 days (life, health, and disability insurance) - Clear expectations with regard to my role and what my priorities needed to be Seeing some of the negative reviews, I feel the need to add this: Management is often willing to take a chance on people - I was hired without relevant industry experience. I have a degree, but it's also not relevant to running a laser. They gave me a chance to prove myself. On the flip-side, this means that you will likely need to do the same, especially if you have a criminal record or a long period of unemployment. Think "honest best effort" at all times and your job is quite secure.
Svantaggi
The company could do more to ensure worker safety. Working with sheet metal and heavy machinery is inherently dangerous - a stricter culture with regard to PPE could be a good start. There's a lot that an employee can do as an individual to protect him/herself, but in terms of the overall picture, too many people were getting hurt.
