As a new hire, this is especially frustrating, with no "product directory" to know who to call when you need an answer about a particular product line. Depending on your manager, sometimes the desire to move around is looked down upon. My manager strongly encouraged rotating in both design and manufacturing before settling into one area, but another manager was harsh when a coworker wanted to move areas after 18 months.
