Vantaggi

Compensation was decent- when pandemic restrictions were being lifted and we were called into office, we were all given a $2 raise to account for inflation, and that really did go a long way. There are some kind and friendly people within departments. Extracurricular activities were always lavish and fun. (Rangers game, Christmas party, etc.) I did not get to appreciate the benefits much, as I left soon after getting on the insurance plan, but I heard from other employees that the benefits were pretty good, and worth the money. There are always free snacks, coffee, and soda in the break room!

Svantaggi

The work distribution in the Input/ Audit department is dismal. There were days where some members of the team would happily skip out of the office at 3, 4 and 5pm, while others, myself included, were there until 7, 8 and sometimes even 9pm and later. The shift lead takes the brunt of the work in the department (that man deserves a RAISE), while the supervisor of the department spends most of her time chatting with another managers or simply browsing on her phone and leaves right at 5pm, no matter what, which was unbelievably frustrating. There were so many days that I asked for help and was told it was not available, and just watched the rest of the company file out of the office, leaving me and a few other members of the team all by ourselves in the quiet offices for hours. (You wouldn't believe how many things I had to cancel/reschedule due to late hours in office) It was also well known in the department that the supervisor frequently could not answer questions in regards to input, and that any questions needed to be directed to the shift lead, or just the entry-level employees on the team, as they were more knowledgeable the majority of the time. Job security is also a major issue here. Ruth herself fires people or lets them go on a whim VERY frequently. The turnover rate of employees was truly a spectacle to watch. She gets worked up very easily and even takes out her anger on employees. I myself was spoken to in a very aggressive manner after she fired a friend I had in the department- I assume she was attempting to garner a negative reaction out of me so that she could fire me too, but I was able to remain professional, despite the way she was speaking to me. The managers all take a lunch together once a week, and almost every single time I saw an employee get let go or fired, it was after once of these lunches. Lastly, the company is simply going downhill. When I first started, I really enjoyed the job. We worked from home (which was plenty effective, there is NO need to be in office, at least in regards to the input/audit team), the hours weren't too terrible, and the work distribution was reasonable. Even when we were made to come back in office, we got free breakfast every Monday and free lunch every Friday, which was awesome! Over the last two years, however, the company has clearly taken a major financial hit. The free breakfast/lunch stopped, rounds of layoffs happened over and over, and it was even announced that our pension was being stopped in April. Two days before my departure from the company we were casually informed about the "raise freeze", that had until then NOT been disclosed. In fact, I had been under the impression that I had just received my yearly raise, and was shocked to find out publicly that this wasn't the case. This only affirmed my decision to leave. All in all, this is a company that frequently bites off more than it can chew, and then the lower level employees suffer, while management appears to be unaffected.

Vantaggi

- The opportunity to learn the basics of how mortgage/loan processing work in the context of real estate law - Good chance of getting permanently hired once you are efficient enough in processing documents, so there is some merit; you often start off as a temp through an agency they work closely with. - Solid work experience for those that really need anything for the time being; requires very basic computer and document literacy and input skills. - You are compensated slightly more for any overtime hours you need to work once you're permanently hired - A designated break room with snacks

Svantaggi

- Prepare for longer hours depending on the season; gets particularly busy around tax season; up to 50 hours/week during the busiest times. - Since this role is essentially the frontline of the entire loan process, expect to be among the last to leave the office - Some specific tasks aren't covered in detail during initial training, so you may need to ask around often with more experienced colleagues in the beginning; you will need to be self-reliant in this regard
