Vantaggi

If you are a hungry shark and would sell your soul for a wireless sale, then you have come to the right place. You make a lot of commission for your wireless sale and the features and accessories you attach to it. Be warned future buyers, if the associate is pushing something very hard for you to purchase, it is because they are going to make a lot of money from you!

Svantaggi

Where do I begin?! First off, when you are a manager, you are given a false pretense of hope of making UP TO 50,000/yr. Then, when you actually look at your base salary, it is only 24,000/yr. Associates make UP TO 12-15/hr, but the base is minimum wage...currently 7.25/hr, which by the way is below the poverty line for either party. Your focus and goals are ridiculous. They focus on things such as wireless, att connectech, service plans, livestrong donations, rewards programs, screen protectors, batteries, radioshack credit cards, email and address capture, major electronics which must all be sold with at least one accessory; now keep in mind this process is with EVERY customer, so you must go through this with every sale. Customers eventually give up and feel that they are being pressured into something they did not even come in to buy. The service plans that they have with most electronics is a joke. Employees use deceptive tactics in order for customers to buy this service plan. How it works is only if the product is defective but not through water damage will the company replace it, however, they must bring the items in the store and they send it out to their warehouse. If they determine it is qualified to be replaced, then they send the customer a gift card for what they purchased. So essentially, the customer will be out of the product for quite some time before they get it replaced....this is bad because employees tell their customers that we replace the product for free and not the whole process of how we replace it, otherwise no one would buy this service plan. The only reason Radioshack offers this is to get more money out of the customer since it is pure profit. Advertising, this company spends a ridiculous amount on advertising, sending cheaply made floor displays, decorations, etc. If you are going to spend that money like you did changing the name to "the shack" haha....then go big or go home. Buy quality products and quality displays to put them in so we really don't look like a shack. You want to be synonymous with wireless, well changing the name is the first step, next is to get real live phones on the displays like all the big boys and get rid of all the little parts drawers so we can actually get customers to come in and say "i want to set up 4 new lines," instead of "y'all got 'em switch for my fishin' pump?"....cmon man, gimme a break. Employee discounts, wow, really? by selling my soul to the shack you will give me 10% off.....wow, customers get that by filling out a survey on the bottom of the receipt. This gives future employees no benefit to working here if that continues. Just fill out a bunch of surveys and you can get the employee discount...keep your soul to sell later to walmart when you retire. The amount of hours that managers work is horrendous. You are required to work 6 days a week, minimum of 52 hours. This leaves no social life, if you are married or have children, might as well tell them you won't see them for a while, especially during holiday season. The company will eventually try to stay open on Thanksgiving and Christmas day, so beware if you like spending time with loved ones, this company is not for you. The amount of products they have in the store that has been opened, used, retaped, repackaged and resold as new since they cannot discount the merchandise is terrible. How can you look like a professional store if most of the products on the floor are used? Forget about taking them off the floor and just having the company scrap them, because that will come out of your P&L, which in terms comes out of your bonus. Bottom line, increase the pay...especially for managers since they are responsible for running the business. Quit cutting corners on advertising and materials for the store just to save a buck, it looks like a shack in the stores. Work weeks should be cut down to 40-45 hrs and/or five day work weeks. Sell high quality products and try to jump on the bandwagon at start, the iPhone will be sold at the shack in 2011.....the 3G iPhone has been out since 2008, a little late guys....just make sure you guys have a working display in all the stores preferrably not made out of cardboard.
