Vantaggi
With the amount of people leaving the company the room for growth comes nicely.
Svantaggi
Everything. Where do we start? Well I write this review in spite of the company's announcement today that they will be open Thanksgiving Day from 8am till Midnight, then to reopen at 5am black Friday. Just as the public found out about this, so did every RadioShack employee. The corporate bosses say they will be out in the field, but where and for how long? The company had the decency of letting its employees enjoy the holiday with their families. Now, two weeks before it they announce, NOPE! Not happening this year. Even in the employee benefit pamphlet it says Thanksgiving off! To finish, store associates who work will receive holiday pay as well as the normal wages for working the day, but managers do not get nothing extra! So now, two weeks before the holiday, and making the abrupt announcement that your employees will work is beyond me. Now, next, pay. I have worked at RadioShack going on 4 years. In my tenure here I have gone through 5 pay changes. Now with us being paid higher commission (3%) on authentic RadioShack items, and lower commission (1%) on all other brands. These commissions have never added much more to my pay to make more than $16/hr. As a manager, that is pathetic, and not to sound cocky, but I think I am a damn good sales person. No employee I know has ever received a raise, and the bonuses managers make are almost near pathetic and sometimes impossible to achieve. They expect sale quality employees for state minimum wage as well as a weak commission system. They can say that they offer health benefits and 401k, but my health benefits are ridiculous expensive, and I can't personally comment on the 401k, but I heard it is not great either. Some people say the work is easy, which I won't say is hard. However, the amount of it now and what they expect to be done is no where near equal to what they pay or the amount of hours they give to employees. They expect store managers to be in the store 47 hours a week, and expect stores to run with roughly 140-160 hours of payroll. Now take away 47-50 for the manager you barely have 3 other people able to work for a store that is open nearly 90 hours of the week. They also never account for the technology malfunctions they constantly have with the wireless carriers, the store computer systems, and customers who take time of the day to come in and complain or chit chat about their daily lives (yes, regulars come in, and chit chat). I recently spent 3 hours on the phone with RadioShack POS Support team, 50 minutes of it was waiting for someone to pick up, the rest was for them to tell me the brand new printer I received for my store was broken. I will finish by saying that the company is finally making a turn around in its innovativeness to provide product. Finally is very exaggerated by me. They seem to be finally getting items that people may want, however, not every store will get them items, and the company is more focused on there concept stores rather than anyone else. If you are not a concept store, then them stores who are-are not allowed to send merchandise to other stores, so basically the customer can't get what they want from their local RadioShack/s and are forced to buy from their competitors. The replenishment and store stock of merchandise is a joke, and has to be revised. Stores who don't have competitors around, like gaming stores, should stock more gaming items (one would think, right?). The company overloads those stores with competitor brand stuff just because of traffic, not because of location. My store has outsold game consoles then any store around me, and yet I am lucky if I will ever see an inventory of PS4's or Xbox One's.
