Vantaggi
Great staff, healthy and unique food, in the heart of downtown, fairly flexible work hours and decent pay. Always fun music playing. You can tell some people really care and make work both productive and enjoyable.
Svantaggi
Training process could've been clearer. Not a lot of systems for kitchen organization. For as much as the brand & culture is about promoting healthiness and inclusivity and a conscious lifestyle, some members of management were overbearing and micromanaged staff. The founder likes to say he cares about his staff and calls everyone family, but if there's any conflict or disagreement employees are gaslit or even fired. The boss seems to enjoy firing people if they question his judgment or don't kiss up to him. In a 4 month span, 3 employees were fired for 'trying to run his business.' It's a shame because Raleigh Raw could be such a cool place and there are people there who promote genuine wellness.
Raises are promised and rarely given. Employees are strongly encouraged to take on additional responsibilities with no overtime pay, and if you're sick and can't get a shift covered you're guilted into working. There's an emphasis on having a personal, spiritual connection to work, which is a good intention, but felt like a cult where if you don't have a close emotional connection with the boss or to the company's vision your loyalty and intentions are questioned. Kitchen healthcode procedure is blatantly ignored, too, and coupled with empty promises from management, make for a frustrating work environment. Trying to take charge or initiate positive change is difficult with so much resistance from members of upper management, unless you work off the clock or extra hours with little to no financial incentive.
