I have worked at RateSetter for over a year and found the whole experience very positive. The company has a real 'can do' attitude, which is reflected in the staff who are friendly, helpful and want to make a difference. The CEO keeps the whole company informed of what is going on via monthly Town Halls, where any questioned can be asked anonymously. This open and transparent approach is a breath of fresh air and something that most companies don't enjoy. Many of the employees have been here a number of years and taken on more senior positions as the company has grown, which demonstrates career progression and longevity. The office is in a good central location in the City, with plenty of space, a large kitchen area for lunch or chats over coffee made by the resident Barista! We also recently held a 'Pub Quiz' over drinks one evening, which was a great way to meet so many new people.

Svantaggi

Company has been growing rapidly, so there are plenty of new people who are still getting up to speed, but this also adds to the dynamic environment. To date RateSetter has placed more emphasis on cash instead of benefits, which gives employees the freedom to decide what they want to spend their cash on. Some people miss the additional benefits you would receive from a much larger organisation, but then RateSetter is not like a larger company - which is one of the key attractions.

- Still a small enough company to feel like you have made a difference and contributed to the goals. - Fantastic products that can help and resolve a lot of consumers monetary dilemmas. - Townhall meetings enable the workforce to be kept up to date with the vision on a monthly basis.

Svantaggi

- A lot of influential people have left in the last twelve months which brings with it uncertainty as to why so many have resigned. - Communication is very poor when decision are made overnight and implemented without warning. - Leadership skills still lack across management. - Restrictive approach to renumeration across the whole company even though there are outstanding performers. This can only be due to the vision and p&l. - Fear more employees will resign and move on if they are not felt rewarded or appreciated. - Employee satisfaction is treated like a tick box exercise with a social committee and monthly questionnaire. For a relatively new business this is not the best approach to take and will not gain better morale.
