Vantaggi
I have worked within the travel industry for over 13 years and I have never come across a company where weekend working is not expected and where the office is closed over the Christmas period giving all staff the time off to spend with their families so this is something I have found extremely positive. The office is in a great setting and the directors have worked hard to make sure that the facilities are all top notch with multiple fridges, kitchen space, microwaves for making lunches, air con (again not something in every past workplace I have had) comfortable seating for lunch breaks and meeting spaces and free tea, coffee and milk, and showers for those who cycle to work. There is a culture of caring and sharing with lots of opportunities to get involved in raising money for charity and there is always someone who has brought in food of some sort to share so be prepared to put on a few lbs! The flexibility of working hours is fantastic - again not something I have had in previous work places, so having the ability to choose a working band which will suit your week is great. The directors and managers are also happy to be flexible with working around medical appointments and making the time up (so longer lunches if needed or coming in later/leaving earlier.) They have even amended working hours to suit train times for those staff who get the train to work and don't drive - again something I haven't come across before! The directors are approachable and open to all ideas to continually improve the working environment. They have a door open policy and encourage staff from interns up to senior managers to approach them with any queries or concerns they have as well as any suggestions for improvements. I have personally found them very open to suggestions and recent changes have included the addition of senior positions within the company for internal development, performance awards for operational and sales staff and some great incentives and prizes. Even when staff have needed to come in early to help on certain special flight release days breakfast has been provided by the company - again not something I have experienced in other work places. As the company has grown I have seen lots of staff progress internally to different positions within the company and within their own departments and the ability to recognise great talent and ambition (of which there is a lot at Rayburn) is something the directors are very adept at.
Svantaggi
Due to the growth of the company it can sometimes be difficult to find a parking space as there is limited space available for each business on Pride Park. Sometimes it can be too cold with the aircon on but that is personal preference as I am always very cold (and just make sure I bring a cardigan with me).
