Vantaggi

Stable 40 hours a week, good benefits, fun perks, time off when needed, and colleagues with a sense of humor. Overall a cushy job if you like endless repetition.

Svantaggi

You better like the position you were hired for because you're likely to stay there unless someone above you quits or moves to New York. You're also likely to have the same salary, too. Depending on the department, little room and/or encouragement toward advancement; lots of hiring from outside (not from within - what does that tell you?) Lots of favortism -- if you're a personal friend of a hiring manager, then you're hired! New grads out of college -- prepare for the condescension from upper management.

Vantaggi

Interior office design is fabulous! There's lots of exterior windows, glass walls on private offices and meeting rooms that allow plenty of outside light to enter the cubicle area. This also allows for many views outside of the building. Cubes have low walls that further allow light to enter. There are interesting perks like occasional company off site fun activities. Also, there is always free beverages and fruit available. On Friday there are bagels. There is a on site gym available in the complex. A food court and a fun restaurant is within walking distance. Flexible hours are commonly used by employees. Most managers and staff strive to keep the workplace funny and fun. And most are passionate about preventative health.

Svantaggi

There are often clashes between the two management styles of the west coast internet start up and the east coast huge conglomerate. The east coast management is MUCH more restrictive on employees' opinions that conflict with management and more restrictive on information flow from the top down. Job transfers don't occur transparently. Car traffic almost always heavy during rush hour commutes.
