I thought it was a great place to work until I joined. Lotsa kool-aid drinking and highly political. You need to make sure you hang out with the right people in leadership to get promoted and the big projects; speak up and you are condemned forever. 1. We had our benefits cut significantly in December and the company soon after received an email from the CEO who chastised the company for engaging in discussions on what the benefit cuts meant for employees. I know that many teams such as the Community team received a talking to afterwards, by their VPs who obviously have to rally around their own manager (aka the CEO). The truth is, the benefits were cut and employees spoke up but this was frown upon. Open culture? You decide. 2. Career progression isn't a thing here. You don't know what your next level would be though they tried to do some work here. Managers were nice but that's it. My manager was really nice during 1-1s and all - but it stops there. Promises were never delivered and there's no way to hold managers accountable. 3. Work isn't all that fun. It's a company with a ton of legacy baggage and you'd find people (like those in the Community team especially) pushing back on features and all, based on what they knew from eons ago. I mean the rationale didn't make sense and they were so darn sarcastic and territorial - yikes and beware of that team. I'd stay far far away from the Community team (which has been going through non-stop reorg, since they hired a new c-suite community exec who was always emotional and tearing up on company meetings. Apparently her strategy isn't going anywhere based on the number of reorgs that team has gone through) 4. Leadership - Total joke. They were on an international growth path and hired a few country managers who were all let go / resigned within a few months. They had some good new hires to drive global expansion but I know those people were struggling to make progress with limited support. I left Reddit and I am so glad I did. I used to like Reddit as a user but my experience working at Reddit left me really disappointed and I have since deleted the app and minimized contact with people from the company.
