Yes it is a fast-growing company. Working for a fast-growing company may sound nice, believe me it’s totally the opposite. You should read that as “high pressure, no rewards.” Literally get zero training except for Carbon Black. Everything has to be self-taught in your own time. When I joined, there were fewer customers so I could spend the nights studying. These days, with 1200+ alarms a day, reports and other tasks to do, it’s impossible to even get a breather. These alarms are divided between 5-8 analysts. Redscan will not invest in your development at all. They have a subscription to CBTNuggets but you are required to pay £50 a month for access to this. They want highly certified and accomplished people, but they’re not willing to contribute to your development at all. There are literally zero opportunities for progression. You will be doing in year 3, exactly what you were doing in month 3 of your time here. When you make the smallest mistake, this will be picked up and you will have to write a statement explaining yourself and what went wrong and why. The blame culture here is very strong. The rate of attrition here is ridiculously high and for good reason. If you make it to the one year mark, you deserve a 21 gun salute. Big changes are always promised, but nothing is ever delivered. For over a year, the SOC has not had a manager. The bar has been set so high for a new manager that in literally a whole year, not a single candidate has been able to meet these expectations. The only time you will get some praise or recognition, is if you spend 2-3 hours a day of your own time, doing unpaid overtime, in order to help the business. This could mean helping developers with their work, or engineers with theirs, as this results in the quicker onboarding of new customers, this in turn means more money and so you get a well done. Analysts do not get bank holidays off or any extra pay for working bank holidays. One of the biggest points of contention is that you could be doing exactly the same job as another analyst and have the same amount of industry experience, but you will be getting paid approximately £5000 less. Contractual agreements mean pay cannot be discussed. TL;DR If you want to work in cyber security or be a good analyst, go somewhere else.
