Their predatory behavior starts at the interview stage. Bait-and-switch: no mention of work schedule that involved working weekends (which means working seven days in a row) in the job listing or in any of the interviews, then using it to negotiate salary. Not to mention how they lowball you from the advertised compensation range. They are exploiting remote workers by paying below market rates, providing no equipment, no paid time off, virtually no benefits, and expecting them to act and fulfill obligations as if they were full-time employees. There is little to no autonomy or flexibility. Their management skills are inexistent, there is never any positive reinforcement, they always assume the worst from employees, threaten them, use passive-aggressive language, and publicly shame them for mistakes. Both their employer and business practices are highly questionable. First time founders who got lucky and think they are running a successfull business. Ask the staggering amount of unhappy customers and employees, and you will understand they are just too arrogant to see how poorly they are doing in any measure that isn't their financial outcomes. During the interview process, they mentioned complacency as the biggest challenge for the team, and you quickly understand that becoming complacent is a survival strategy in an environment like Reedsy. You either check out and do the bare minimum, or you burn out. If you are reading this before deciding if you should interview with them or accept an offer, please run in the opposite direction. Your mental health, bank account and career will thank you later.

To clarify how scheduling works today: for our support roles, the requirement to work every other weekend is clearly stated in the job description, and candidates are asked to confirm their availability during the application process. This is a rotating schedule; when someone works a weekend, they work seven consecutive days, followed by a shorter three-day workweek the following week. This allows us to provide consistent support to our users while balancing workloads across the team.
